SMI is a French-Vietnamese company that has been established since 1988 in Vietnam. We create, produce and export high-end furniture. Our company offers a wide collection of indoor furniture made of various materials such as wood, stainless steel and aluminum. Initially, the company was founded to produce classic furniture. Now, the main production has moved to creating contemporary furniture with traditional French cabinet-making techniques to ensure the highest quality for our customers.
A FAMILY MATTER
Coming from a family of antique dealers, Georges Waché adventured to Asia to produce 18th century French style furniture. In 1988, he was able to create a factory in Vietnam, gathering skilled craftsmen in different fields such as cabinet making, metalworking, sculpting, varnishing and tapestry.
Today, SMI is a big family; most of the craftsmen have more than 30 years of experience and live in the village built especially for them. SMI has become not merely a company, but a community. The factory has seen two generations of craftsmen and designers who have managed to move from the production of classic furniture to our own style that has constantly evolved over the years.
CREATING UNIQUE VALUE THROUGH DESIGN AND COLLABORATION
Like a creative laboratory, our factory brings together a team of experienced designers working on-site with highly skilled craftsmen from different backgrounds. This allows us to mix different materials in our creations. The designers are able to feel the material directly while exchanging insight with the craftsmen on the technical part. This combination of know-how and creative freedom contributes to giving a real identity to our creations as well as to our customers to discover new trends.
