The trunks are sawn at SMI's sawmill into boards (to make table tops) or into shapes (to make seat backs). Later, these pieces of wood are put into a high-pressure autoclave (vacuum machine) with a chemical test that destroys the growth of fungi and other harmful parasites that can affect the wood.
